21-24 July. We are now in Devon.
After a lovely quiet night on the farm we went through a very busy Weymouth. In spite of that I really liked Weymouth. It has lots of character as an old traditional seaside town with Punch & Judy and donkey rides. And I managed to park!
From there we continued to Portland and went up to Portland Heights. Very warm but hazy day with great views of Chesil beach.
Then continued through Lyme Regis and Seaton. On Friday we reached Sidmouth and had a long and interesting visit to the Donkey Sanctuary. Great work is going on there to give hundreds of donkeys a comfortable and happy retirement. Have supported them for many years and always wanted to visit.
Next we went to a beautiful beach at Budleigh Salterton with red rocks. On Friday night I found a National Trust campsite for 1 night.
Then on Saturday we reached Devon, going through Exmouth, beautiful Dawlish, Teignmouth, Torquay and Paignton. Then at Kingswear we got on the car ferry for the short crossing to Dartmouth. Staying on a campsite at Dartmouth for a couple of days to recover from all the driving and do a stack of laundry using the facilities here. Today it has rained most of the day but it is due to improve again soon, fingers crossed.
