27 July. Spent a few days exploring the coastline of Devon. A lovely boat trip up the River Dart, unfortunately quite cloudy but still very warm. Really enjoyed visit to Greenway House and gardens, the summer home of Agatha Christie, owned by the National Trust. Then on to Brixham and Berry Head lighthouse, stunning coastline.
On Tuesday we went to Hallsands beach for sunbathing and swimming, and then along some very narrow and challenging roads to the lighthouse at Start Point. Last night we stayed on a campsite at Kingsbridge. Today the narrow roads were even more challenging with steep hills and very tight hairpin bends to add to the mix. That was to get us through Salcombe and then on to Bigbury-on-Sea. Incredible views but won’t be attempting that again in a van. And on top of that, tractors everywhere!
This evening we have arrived in Plymouth and will explore that more tomorrow as we get closer to Cornwall. Doing a pub stopover tonight so have been well fed and will be ready to move on tomorrow.
